This Privacy Policy describes how Beard & Tailor Studio Kft. ("BT Studio", "BesTest", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our Jira app and related services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

When you install and use BesTest through the Atlassian Marketplace, we may collect:

Account information from your Atlassian account (display name, email address)
Test management data you create within BesTest (requirements, test cases, test cycles, execution results)
Support communications when you contact our help center
Feedback and feature requests you submit

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use BesTest or visit our website, we may automatically collect:

Usage data and analytics (feature usage, page views, interaction patterns)
Device information (browser type, operating system)
Log data (access times, error logs for troubleshooting)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and improve the BesTest app and services
Process and display your test management data within Jira

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your personal data: performance of our contract with you (to provide and operate the App), our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve our services and understand how they are used), your consent (for non-essential analytics, where required), and compliance with our legal obligations.

3. Our Role: Controller and Processor

Our responsibilities depend on the type of data involved:

Test management data — you, or the organization you belong to, are the data controller. BT Studio acts as a data processor, handling this data on your behalf and in accordance with your instructions.
Account, website, and support data — BT Studio acts as the data controller and is responsible for how this data is processed.

4. Data Storage and Security

BesTest is built on Atlassian Forge. The application runs on Forge and integrates natively with your Jira Cloud experience, while your test management data (requirements, test cases, test cycles, and execution results) is held in a dedicated, secure database operated on our behalf by a trusted cloud infrastructure provider. Your test data is kept in this dedicated database rather than inside your Jira issues.

You can choose to have your data hosted in the European Union, the United States, or India, and additional regions can be provisioned on request. We apply industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and the principle of least privilege, to protect your data.

For our website, we use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure headers, and access controls to protect any data transmitted to us.

5. International Data Transfers

Depending on the hosting region you select and the third-party services we use, your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Some of our service providers, such as our analytics providers, are based in the United States. Where data is transferred out of the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable, so that your data remains protected.

Atlassian Forge — application platform and hosting for the BesTest app (its code and user interface) within Atlassian's cloud
Cloud database and hosting provider — secure storage of your test management data in your selected region (EU, US, or India)

DataFast — website usage analytics
Vercel Analytics — website performance and usage analytics
Vercel Speed Insights — Core Web Vitals monitoring
Ahrefs Analytics — website traffic and SEO analytics
Released.so — in-app release notes and changelog

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data, and we encourage you to review them. We maintain a current list of our sub-processors, and a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available to customers on request by contacting us at info@btstudio.io.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

With service providers who assist us in operating our services (subject to confidentiality obligations)
When required by law, court order, or governmental regulation
To protect the rights, property, or safety of BesTest, our users, or the public

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access — request a copy of your personal data

Objection — object to certain processing of your data
Restriction — request limited processing of your data

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. As BT Studio is established in Hungary, the competent authority is the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság, "NAIH").

9. Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies required for basic functionality. We also use analytics tools, including Google Analytics, DataFast, Vercel Analytics, and Ahrefs, to understand how visitors interact with our site. These tools may set cookies or use similar identifiers (such as a cookie or device ID) to measure usage; we do not use them to build advertising profiles or to sell your data. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. When you uninstall BesTest, we delete the test management data associated with your instance from our systems within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations. Website analytics data is retained for up to 12 months.

11. Children's Privacy

BesTest is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or through the Atlassian Marketplace listing. Your continued use of BesTest after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
